Just an old 'Leeds lad' sharing his memories & Leeds archive from a bygone era.....when football was at 3pm on a Saturday, you didn't need to plan it weeks in advance, and you didn't need a bank loan to go....a site for a reminisce....and to a time when football was played by uncompromising gladiators & watched by uncompromising supporters.
"You don't pick yer team..... it picks you !!"

Leeds United the glory years 1969-70
..My earliest memories of Leeds was that  pissed off feeling after we got beat by Everton in the FA Cup Semi Final at Old Trafford on April 27th 1967 – I was six years old, our kid had gone to the game and he'd been building up to it all week. I tuned into the radio commentary and rooted for us. The emptiness I felt after that 1-0 defeat was one I would become used to over the next 50 odd years..

Leeds United the glory years 1970-72
..First match proper was Crystal Palace at home, April 1970 – the season we were chasing the lot and finished with nothing – I'd been nagging my old man for about two years to take me - we won 2-0 with Mick Jones getting both -the second been a fantastic diving header ... which I can still visualize . I've still got the 15 shillings ticket stub from the Low Fields Road East Stand we were in ...

Leeds United the glory years 1972-75
- First went away at 16 .... went on the special with our kid who was seven years older, and his best mate, Gregg, who soon became a lifelong mate of mine - Oct 8th 1977 v Bristol City - We lost 3-2 and Big Norm, playing for them scored a cracker - It’s the only thing i remember about the game. The abiding memory of that day is that spine tingling feeling & edge i came to know associated  with following Leeds away home..

Towards the back end of the 70s after a couple of nightmare trips on the Special and "Wally Trolleys " a few of us joined The Three Legs Supporters Club based on The Headrow.
.The “Legs” or "15 Toes " as it was called was a massive Leeds pub that drew support on match days from all over the area – We went to a few games with them but soon mixed with other’s who were going with a different Supporters Club Branch called The Kippax Branch..
The next 10 years were without doubt the best of my life following Leeds, where lifelong friendships were forged..

These pages ultimately "tips it's hat" to that period of my life and our History -
But it couldn't of been done without the patience throughout the years of my long suffering Wife Karen & computer smart or just smart generally,Daughter Cherie, both of who are my treasures in life.....
enjoy the site !!  - Your comments and feedback are welcome
